This is a simple way to test to see if your memory is improving or getting worse. It is a good warning of the onset of Dementia or Alzheimer's Disease. Many people claim that they have the means to improve your memory. Often people assume that these methods work but this could just be the placebo affect. This method actually gives a way to measure the difference.
The aim is to find techniques, therapies, food or any other methods that noticeably improve memory. Perhaps, there are some ways to improve memory that have been developed that have been suppressed, and hence very few people know about them. Possibly, there are suppressed therapies or methods that are much better than what is widely known. Please let me know of anything that noticeably helps improve memory. If we can find something, the potential would be enormous, because it would save people a lot of time and enable them to have a more enjoyable life.
The simple exercise on this site would enable people to test to see what improves memory.
Don't click on the links at the bottom of the example table until after you have read this. If possible, print out a page to record your results by clicking here . Otherwise, you could draw up a page with a similar format on a piece of paper.
The below table contains a row of letters below the top row which numbers the columns. Memorize as many consecutive letters from left to right as you can in 5 seconds, then look away and write them down. Take note of how many you can remember. Pick a number which you can remember correctly only some of the time. Note the position and colour of the column of the furthest letter to the right that you can remember. This is so that you will know at a glance how many letters to memorize.
Now click on table 1 and memorize the number of letters that you have selected. You have about 5 seconds before the page redirects. After the page redirects, write down the letters on a blank sheet of paper. Press the back button and then the stop button to stop the page redirecting again. You can now check if you are correct. If you think you can sometimes remember more letters, you can memorize an extra letter next time. If this is the case, take note of the colour and position of the extra letter. You may have to load a few tables to work out what number you can remember. Choose a number that you can remember correctly about half the time. Once you have determined how many letters you can sometimes remember, you can start the test.
Load the next table after the one that you have loaded before, and write down the letters that you have chosen to remember on a piece of paper. If you are correct, place a 1 in the trial 1 column on the paper that you have printed out. If you are incorrect write a 0. Repeat the process 5 times and write down a 0 or 1 in the correct column. It is important that you only load tables that you have not loaded before. At the end of the first test of 6 trials, you will have a row of results written on your paper as below. The below example indicates a total of 3 correct trials in the first test on the 2-3-05.
Date Trial 1 Trial 2 Trial 3 Trial 4 Trial 5 Trial 6 Total successes. Number of letters 0 0 1 0 1 1 3 7 Below is an example of a table
that you would generate over a period of time. This example could indicate some
successful memory therapy because normally the results would be reasonably
static. However, it is best to perform the first few trials without any therapy
so that you can establish a control result. Date Trial 1 Trial 2 Trial 3 Trial 4 Trial 5 Trial 6 Total successes. Number of letters 0 0 1 0 0 1 2 7 0 1 0 0 1 1 3 7 0 0 1 0 1 1 3 7 1 0 0 1 1 1 4 7 0 1 0 1 1 1 4 7 1 0 1 1 1 1 5 7 0 1 1 1 1 1 5 7
If you consistently get all the letters correct in the future, try memorizing an extra letter or two. After the initial testing period, try changing your diet or taking a medicine or trying a therapy that is recommended to improve memory. Can you remember more letters or get a higher percentage correct? If so, what changes did you make? Also, try a natural memory training program or prayer. Do any of these things make a difference, and if so, what were they?
